Flag: The flag outside the National Archives Building in Washington, D.C., October 2003. I just glanced up at this and liked the way the light was looking as the flag flapped in the breeze. I was also kind of bored waiting in line to get inside and had just been told by a self-identified Republican that they would always win because they "have the voting machines." Hopefully snapshots of the flag and old pieces of parchment in the rotunda of the Archives are not all that will be left to us as we attempt to maintain a functioning democracy.

This is one of the few pictures I've put up that I think works best in its original 4x6 dimensions rather than 8x10 or 5x7.
